Move to HOOPS results in 10x performance gain.
"Our
customers benefit greatly from the increased performance and capabilities
HOOPS allows us to provide in IRONCAD. This integration allows IronCAD
developers to focus on enhancing IRONCAD’s core capabilities,
while developers at Tech Soft 3D work to deliver improvements to graphical
performance and visualization."

HOOPS gives 40% performance gain.
"CAESAR
II users expect us to constantly raise the bar in all areas, including
graphic display performance. This recent improvement is yet another
example of the benefits we have realized using HOOPS technology over
the years.”

Warren Wang
Member of Technical Staff
Berkeley, California, USA
An avid computer-head since the age of 6, Warren joined the Tech Soft team in 2005 and is perfectly at home within our group of eager programmers. Recently Warren was instrumental in the development of our new shader-based DirectX driver.

Technical Question:
I've
a question about HOOPS and Vista. I have recently updated my development
machine to Vista and am seeing a degradation in how OpenGL runs now
in comparison to how it ran on XP, in terms of handling large textures.
Are there any issues with HOOPS running on Vista with OpenGL, in particular
with large textures (memory intensive) and is Direct3D now a favored
graphics engine for this environment? What is the HOOPS view?
Answer:
There are no specific issues with HOOPS running on Vista with OpenGL. However, there are several factors that can affect graphics performance on Vista, not the least of which are optimal graphics card drivers from manufacturers. In general, we have found that OpenGL graphics performance on Vista is not on par with XP.
Direct3D under Vista appears to be more stable and optimized than OpenGL, thus usage of the HOOPS-Direct3D driver is preferred choice. The recently released HOOPS v16 includes a full-featured, optimized, and stable Direct3D interface which supports DirectX 9.0c.
