Consulting Engineer - EUROPE
Tech Soft 3D is a well-established US software company delivering world-class 2D & 3D computer graphics tools to many of the leading software developers worldwide including Solidworks, Autodesk, Dassault, PTC and many other specialist applications companies.
We have a small team in Europe that we are now looking to expand with the addition of a further Consulting Engineer to support our growing customer-base in the region.
The Position
As a member of the Consulting Engineering team, you will take responsibility
for the daily support and assistance to selected customers, who are
all experienced software engineers. You will work with the European
Consulting Director to continually enhance and improve the service
we offer to our prospects and customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing answers to inquiries concerning correct software usage, system requirements, configurations, and customer applications architecture.
- Analyzing complex problems in the application of technical 3D graphics and geometric modelling software to identify defects and recommend corrective action.
- Monitor software defects and problems via the company’s support database to ensure a timely attention to issues and satisfactory closure.
- Assist in European customer specific release engineering tasks such as software builds, platform support, system management, and quality assurance testing.
- Remaining abreast of technology and market changes that may affect
or enhance our products.
As you gain experience with our tools, significant additional responsibilities will include:
- Using the company’s C/C++ toolkits to create sophisticated demonstration software to enhance product marketability in the European region.
- Working with prospects and customers to help build application prototypes to further their evaluation efforts.
- Developing specific extensions to the existing tools to meet prospect and customer requirements in the European region.
- Demonstrate feasibility of Tech Soft products and other technologies for use within customer applications by providing live demos, presentations, and training classes.

This is a ground-breaking role and you need to be a self-starter, capable of working from home under the guidance of the European business team. You must be prepared to travel for at least 2 weeks per month, though the actual travel requirements are expected to be less than 50% of your time.
The following requirements are essential:
- A first-class BSc in an applicable field, preferably Computer Science or Mathematics and preferably a higher degree
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills and an ability to work independently
- Familiarity with 3D computer graphics concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and common lower-level APIs such as DirectX or OpenGL
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Substantial experience in writing and debugging C and C++ code under both Windows and Unix platforms; and familiarity with .NET and Java an advantage
- Ability to work well in a task-oriented, team environment
- Experience of deploying technical skills in customer-facing environment, ideally as part of a sales process, including requirements gathering, technical risk assessment and effort estimation for development
- Capability of managing multiple tasks and projects with excellent prioritization and self-organization skills
- Fast learner with an attention to both overall concepts and problem details
